Ben Davies says he doesn’t enjoy facing Tottenham star Steven Bergwijn in training

Tottenham’s Ben Davies has admitted that teammate Steven Bergwijn is someone he hates facing in training.

Davies, 27, is a Spurs defender that has been at the club since 2014 and he competes with Sergio Reguilon for the left-back position.

The Welshman has explained that Spurs attacker Bergwijn is someone who’s a real handful behind the scenes in training.

Bergwijn is a skilful attacker that is renowned for his pace and quick feet, something which can add something extra in the final third for Jose Mourinho’s side.

The 23-year-old is still searching for consistency in his game though, as he’s been in and out of the starting XI at times this season.

“I don’t really enjoy facing him in training. I remember his first day he came in, he just looked a top player from his first day. He came in, brought a good energy around the place and fit straight into the team,”

TBR’s View:

Bergwijn is certainly a talented individual that on his day looks blistering on the wing, something he’s shown in flashes.

Aged 23, he’s got plenty more time to improve and he should have more gears to go through.

He’s got a decent return of five assists in 20 appearances so far this season in all competitions, but the fact he’s yet to score a single goal is a concern.

The Dutchman should be eyeing the right-winger position for his club and be looking to cement his spot in the XI with some more consistent goal contributions.
