BBC pundit says centre-back on loan from Spurs is now a proper ‘PL defender’
Tottenham Hotspur loanee Joe Rodon continues to go from strength to strength on loan at Leeds United.
Spurs signed the 26-year-old back in 2020 for a reported £15million, but he struggled to make a mark at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham sent Rodon out on loan to French side Rennes last season, but they didn’t take up the option to buy at the end of the campaign.
The Wales international joined Leeds this season, and he’s finally showing the form that made him such a star at Swansea City.
Rodon has made 20 appearances for the Elland Road side and, on Saturday, he helped Daniel Farke’s side keep a clean sheet in the 4-0 hammering of Ipswich Town.

BBC Sport pundit and former Blues striker Alex Mathie couldn’t help but sing the Tottenham loanee’s praises towards the end of the game.
“It’s not been Ipswich’s day today,” he said on BBC Radio Suffolk, via the .
“Joe Rodon has been outstanding at the back [for Leeds]. He looks like a Premier League defender.”
The gave the Spurs loanee an 8 out of 10 rating, saying he was “solid as you like.
“Showed physicality where it was needed and dealt with the ball well.”
Joe Rodon’s form will be food for thought for Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou
Unlike last season’s loan spell, in which Rennes had an option to buy, this is apparently not the case for Rodon’s loan deal with Leeds.
As per the , the deal involving Rodon is a straight loan with no option or obligation to buy.
At the same time, it has been that Tottenham do not have an option to recall Rodon in January.
This means that the Tottenham man could be an option for Ange Postecoglou next season.
Obviously we’ll need to see whether Rodon himself wants to try his luck at Spurs again or whether he’d be happy staying with Leeds.
A lot will depend on whether the Whites go back up into the Premier League. If they do, Tottenham’s job becomes harder. Otherwise, they’ll fancy their chances of convincing him to stay put.
