BBC pundit names the Arsenal player he feels Thomas Partey could form a great connection with

Arsenal left it late but they succeeded in bringing Thomas Partey to the Emirates Stadium, the 27-year-old joining the Gunners on transfer deadline day.

Partey had been linked with the North Londoners for a number of months and was said to be one of the number one targets for Mikel Arteta this summer.

Houssem Aouar then emerged as a reported target for Arsenal but, with the deadline fast approaching, speculation involving Partey began increasing once again.

Those reports proved to be accurate as the Ghana international made the switch from Atletico Madrid to Arsenal on deadline day.

Partey signed a long-term deal at the Emirates Stadium after he completed his medical and paperwork just before Monday’s 11pm deadline.

BBC Sport pundit Don Hutchison was just one of many praising Partey following his move, saying he’ll be a “great signing” and tipping him to form a great connection with Dani Ceballos.

“Thomas Partey will be a great signing for Arsenal,” Hutchison told (5/10, 21:51).

“I was reading that Diego Simeone isn’t happy because he wanted the pair – Lucas Torreira and Partey together.

“For Arsenal they need that sort of player like Partey: a physical presence, he’s very good on the ball, he plugs lots of gaps and with Dani Ceballos, they could form a real relationship in there.”

Even prior to deadline day, Arsenal had enjoyed a decent transfer window, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s new deal finally put that saga to an end.

However, a solid, high-calibre complete midfielder continued to elude the Gunners, and many fans were growing exasperated with the lack of movement on that front.

But all’s well that ends well, and following the international break, it’ll be great to see Partey in action, another step forward as the Arteta revolution rolls on.
