BBC pundit includes underrated Liverpool midfielder in personal TOTY
BBC pundit Alan Shearer , and there is recognition for one of Liverpool’s unsung heroes.
The Newcastle United legend has been casting is eye over proceedings week in week out, and it would appear the 2018/19 Premier League title race was difficult to look past.
Shearer’s team consists of five Reds and five Manchester City players, with Eden Hazard of Chelsea also selected.

Ederson, Aymeric Laporte, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Sergio Aguero all make it from Pep Guardiola’s Treble winners.
From Liverpool, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Sadio Mane and Gini Wijnaldum all get the nod.
Many people have selected the first four names in their personal Team of the Years, but few have plumped for Wijnaldum.
TBR’s view
The Dutchman has hit new heights this season and has become one of Jurgen Klopp’s most important players.
He may not rack up crazy numbers like Mane or Mo Salah, but he has been Liverpool’s ‘Mr. Consistent’ in 2018/19 according to Shearer, who reckons he has been ‘8/10 or better most weekends’.
The former Newcastle United ace, who cost £25 million (), has made 46 appearances so far this season and will be hoping to get the nod to start the Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur on June 1.

His consistency in midfield has been highly impressive, and many predicted him to be the one to see less football this year with the signings of Fabinho and Naby Keita last summer.
To his credit though, Wijnaldum has arguably never played better, and certainly warrants being talked about for people’s Team of the Years.
