BBC pundit impressed by ‘great’ Leeds player’s performance v Birmingham
Leeds United got back to winning ways as they saw off Wayne Rooney’s hapless Birmingham City side to kick off 2024 in style.
The Whites had goals in the opening 45 minutes from the returning Patrick Bamford and then Daniel James to thank for setting them on their way.
Crysencio Summerville then got himself another goal to make it three and complete a comfortable afternoon for Daniel Farke’s side.
Of course, for Leeds fans, seeing the team get back to winning was important. But just as important was seeing experienced striker Bamford get back among the goals.

And watching on for the BBC, former Leeds man Aidy White picked out Bamford for his performance, especially in the first half.
“It’s a good reaction from Leeds after two defeats in their last two away games. It’s nice to see Patrick Bamford get back on the scoresheet, he has had a great first-half,” White .
Patrick Bamford could be a new signing for Leeds
A fit and firing Patrick Bamford is good for any Championship side and Leeds fans will be hoping he is now ready to really kick on in this next part of the season.
There was a reason Leeds paid in the first place and his goals could really make a difference to them in terms of going back up.
Bamford’s season has been a poor one by his own standards and he’ll be hoping today can kickstart him.
Certainly, Leeds could do with it. They’ve been inconsistent and dropped off a bit recently in terms of the top two.
Bamford, then, could end up being a big difference maker if he can find his feet again.
