BBC pundit blown away by Leeds forward Patrick Bamford after Southampton win

Dion Dublin was full of praise on Tuesday for Leeds United’s Patrick Bamford following his latest Premier League display.

The Whites centre-forward chalked up his 16th league goal of the season in the impressive 2-0 away victory yesterday at Southampton.

Bamford, who has been proving doubters wrong all season, scored yet again after squeezing the ball through the goalkeeper’s legs from close range.

It was no more than the 27-year-old deserved after running his socks off for 90 minutes, and he was also heavily involved in Tyler Roberts’ stoppage time goal to wrap up three points.

BBC pundit Dion Dublin mentioned the vision Bamford has as a massive plus point in his game.

Despite the fact most would associate Leeds’ star winger Raphinha with vision on the pitch, Bamford is extremely clever with the runs he makes too and he’s so aware of his surroundings.

“I like the way he plays the game. As a former centre-forward I can see everything he’s trying to do, he tries to do things the right way all the time. He brings players into play. Gets himself into really good goalscoring positions,” Dublin old .

“His vision is so good… For me, Bamford is knocking on that door for the [England] squad.”

TBR’s View:

If you look at what Bamford has done this season, there isn’t much more he could have done to try force his way into Gareth Southgate’s England squad for this summer’s European Championships.

The left-footed striker should be delighted with his individual campaign regardless, and he’s repaid the faith of manager Marcelo Bielsa to stick with him as the first-choice number nine in the Premier League.

There aren’t many forwards around that could replicate what Bamford does in a Leeds shirt, so it’s a massive credit to the way his all-round game has improved.
