Bayern Munich urged to sign new Liverpool player, by Lothar Matthaus

Thiago Alcantara has been urged to rejoin Bayern Munich from Liverpool after struggling to recapture his Bayern form in a Liverpool shirt following his move last summer – by German legend Lottar Matthaus.

The 29-year-old midfielder joined Liverpool in the summer of 2020 after seven years with Bayern Munich, in which he played 235 times in all competitions for the German side, picking up seven Bundesliga titles in the process.

His form for Bayern saw him considered as one of Europe’s best midfielders and he is still considered in that category – despite struggling at Liverpool. In a Liverpool shirt, he has shown glimpses, but is lacking momentum.

A new country, a new club, injury after a horrendous tackle by Richarlison and a positive test have all hampered Thiago. Given his difficult first season, Thiago has now been urged to rejoin his old club by Bayern icon Matthaus.

“How about Bayern bring Thiago back to Munich?” 150-time Germany international “He’s not getting on in Liverpool and in Munich he is missed by Hansi Flick and the fans.”

TBR’s view – Should Liverpool be concerned over Thiago future?

The feeling among Liverpool fans is that while Thiago has struggled to reproduce the form at Liverpool that he has shown over the years at Bayern – he just needs time to bed in to the Liverpool side, and patience.

It was a tricky start for Thiago, and that catalogue of stumbling blocks is going to hamper any player – even a player of Thiago’s quality. It must be remembered that he has only played 14 games for the Reds.

Thiago is a fighter, a player of his standard has to be. He will see his Liverpool spell as just beginning, and believe that there is unfinished business at Anfield to attend to. Liverpool fans can rest easy.
