Ex-Bayern Munich man predicts Liverpool will beat Germans in Champions League
Lothar Matthäus played 302 times for Bayern Munich but he’s told that Liverpool will be too strong for the Germans in the Champions League.
The 57-year-old enjoyed two spells with the Bundesliga giants and his comments will naturally come as a shock to their supporters.
Bayern are trailing Dortmund in the league this season after years of dominance, whilst Liverpool are level on points with Manchester City in the Premier League.

The Reds go into tonight’s game with Bayern minus several absentees.
Virgil van Dijk is suspended, whilst Roberto Firmino and Gigi Wijnaldum could also miss out.
Matthäus doesn’t think that will matter.
“For me, Liverpool are one of the best teams in the world.
“They are my favourites for the Champions League – not City, PSG, Real or Barcelona.”
The former midfielder has heaped the praise on Munich’s opponents this evening.
The man who also turned out for Inter Milan has even gone to the lengths of predicting a score for tonight’s first leg.
“You know I am a Bayern man. I am happy when Bayern win.
“When I talk like an expert, a pundit, I think Liverpool are stronger. I predict Liverpool 3 – 1 Bayern Munich.”
Liverpool blew away Manchester City and Roma in their Champions League knockout games last season.
Klopp will be attempting to go one better this year, having lost out to Real Madrid in last year’s final.

Matthäus’ comments are perhaps surprising but he is simply being brutally honest.
A Champions League night under the Anfield lights will be a difficult proposition for Bayern and his prediction of a high-scoring encounter looks feasible.
The Allianz Arena is a tough place to go and Liverpool will want to take a positive result over there.
