Bayern Munich consider signing ‘fantastic’ attacker who Tottenham sold and partnering him with Harry Kane

Bayern Munich seem to have a real thing for players with links to Tottenham at the moment.

The Bavarian club signed Harry Kane this summer, while simultaneously chasing Kyle Walker – a former Spurs star, and this January, they’ve seemingly been after anyone who’s been inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Indeed, Eric Dier has joined the club, while they made numerous bids for former Spurs ace, Kieran Trippier too.

Now, there’s another former Tottenham man that Bayern are after.

Indeed, according to , Steven Bergwijn is on the German giants’ shortlist of attacking targets as we approach the end of the transfer window.

Spurs fans will remember Bergwijn fondly from his time in north London, but it’s fair to say that when he left for Ajax last summer, nobody expected his next move to be to Bayern Munich.

The Dutchman always blew hot and cold at Spurs, struggling to really get into the team, but Bayern Munich have clearly seen something in him that makes them think he’s worth bringing in.

Of course, Bayern Munich’s team is now strongly built around Harry Kane, so bringing in a player he knows well and has worked with before certainly isn’t the worst idea in the world.

Bergwijn is a ‘fantastic’ player when he’s in form, but at the top level, he was way too inconsistent to really make a mark on the biggest of stages.

Who knows? Maybe Bergwijn will find some consistency in an ultra-dominant Bayern side and he will fulfil the potential he always showed all those years ago.

Regardless, it is interesting to see Bayern adopting this strategy of targeting players that Harry Kane knows well, and it will be intriguing to see if Thomas Tuchel comes calling for any other Spurs players in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Bergwijn to Bayern is certainly one to keep an eye on as we head into the final hours of the window.
