Bayern Munich chief Uli Hoeness confirms lack of interest in Liverpool’s Wijnaldum
Bayern Munich chief Uli Hoeneß has claimed that the German outfit have no interest in the soon-to-be departing Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum.
The Dutchman bid an emotional farewell to the Reds after the club’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on the final Premier League game of the season last week.
He’s a free agent after reaching the end of his contract at Anfield with reports claiming the Bavarian giants were challenging Barcelona for his signature.
Wijnaldum enjoyed a trophy-laden time in the north-west of England, winning the Premier League, Champions League and Club World Cup
However, it seems the Bundesliga champions have no desire to sign the 31-year-old with Hoeneß distancing them from a move.
When questioned about a potential move, : “I’ve heard that we’re not interested in this player at all.”

Bayern squad stacked: Lack of Wijnaldum interest not a surprise
Whilst Wijnaldum is a talented midfielder in his own right, it’s hard to see why he’d interest Bayern Munich.
He possesses a drive and energy which can push teams up the pitch, however, lacks the technical quality to make the difference in the centre of the pitch.
In that regard, the likes of Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka are much more talented operators and undoubtedly first-choice.
The fact Kimmich, a natural right-back, is being used in the centre of midfield is a testament to his ball-playing ability.
Of the players to have made 20 starts or more in the Bundesliga, only Jerome Boateng and Alphonso Davies have a better .
However, the Germany international has also averaged the most long balls per league game out of the Bayern squad, a display of his great range in passing.
Wijnaldum, labelled a ‘‘, is a shrewd operator, but, does he possess the ball-playing ability of the two German’s? The answer, unfortunately, is a no, and given that, it’s not a surprise to see he’s not a transfer target for the outfit.
