Bastian Schweinsteiger picks favourite to win Champions League clash – Arsenal or Bayern
Arsenal have drawn Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals as Harry Kane takes on The Gunners in April – and Bastian Schweinsteiger picked which team will go into it as favourites.
In a hugely exciting draw, Arsenal face Bayern at home on April 9 and then go to Germany a week later. Dortmund face Atletico Madrid, PSG take on Barcelona and Manchester City are against Real Madrid.
Martin Keown said immediately after the draw that a clash against Kane and Eric Dier’s side will give Arsenal a good chance of qualifying – given how Bayern have struggled this season, in the Bundesliga.
They sit 10 points behind Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen in the race for the Bundesliga title. Jamie O’Hara claimed even before the draw that Bayern would knock Arsenal out of the competition, if drawn.
Now, , former Manchester United and Bayern midfielder Schweinsteiger gave his take on the Champions League and Europa League draws. He thinks Arsenal will suit Bayern, given the history.
His post on Twitter on Friday afternoon is translated as: “The FC Bayern on the other hand, have shown in the past that Arsenal suits them and will do everything they can to reach the semi-finals.”

It is a long time since Bayern smashed Arsenal 10-2 on aggregate, as Arjen Robben ran riot. Arsenal are a much better side right now and are very much in a title race alongside Man City and Liverpool.
Back then, Bayern were by far and away the best side in Germany. They still are, but only at their best and Leverkusen are currently taking advantage. Arsenal will surely be favourites for the massive clash.
For now, Arsenal will be focusing on a crucial Premier League clash against Man City on the weekend. The result of which, could determine whether they are in a title race – or they will settle for second.
