Barcelona’s interest in Alberto Moreno should be no surprise for Liverpool
Catalan newspaper claim that Alberto Moreno could be about to put pen to paper on a two year deal with La Liga leaders Barcelona as a summer departure from Liverpool now looks inevitable.
The Spaniard joined the club under Brendan Rodgers in 2014, signing from Sevilla, but has played just five times this season and has not featured for Jurgen Klopp since January.
The attacking minded 26-year-old has proven to be a liability defensively at Anfield, but it should come as no surprise that Barcelona are interested in him given their style of play and the way in which Moreno matches it.

Alongside his experience in the Spanish league from his time at Sevilla, he has proven to be a threat in attack, with pace bombing down the flanks, even if he does leave gaps defensively which Premier League rivals have found easy to exploit.
In Spain, Jordi Alba plays in a similar style whilst being more defensively sound. Though if Moreno is merely to act as a reserve for Alba, featuring against lesser opposition, that may be less of a concern.
With his contract set to expire this summer, it makes perfect sense for the Spanish champions to pick up Moreno on a free transfer as a valuable squad option.
