Barcelona players angry after what club president has said about £50m Arsenal target
As Mikel Arteta attempts to hand-pick the best talents from La Liga, it seems as if Arsenal and Barcelona could go head to head on a few targets this summer.
Arteta is aiming to improve his squad depth in several areas, a summer which will be designed to fine tune this Arsenal team.
Edu will primarily look to offload players before welcoming new arrivals, even if Arsenal could make an exception with Riccardo Calafiori.
But in the main, Arsenal hope to offload players on the periphery of things, then seeking high-calibre replacements.
A plan all teams would be happy to execute – but one that’s not always so easy.
That being said, Arteta has made it clear that Nico Williams is his preferred attacking signing at Arsenal this summer, a player who starred at the Euros.

However, Barcelona are also fiercely interested in the 21-year-old winger too, which doesn’t bode well for Arsenal when trying to sign a Spaniard.
Although, according to a report by , things could be swinging in Arsenal’s favour.
Barcelona players fuming with club’s public pursuit of Arsenal target Nico Williams
Recently, Barcelona’s club president Joan Laporta has been very vocal about wanting to sign Williams, saying they could ‘cope financially’ with the signing.
And according to the report mentioned, this has seriously angered Barcelona’s current squad.
Right now, Barca are in a difficult spot with FFP and have asked for patience with their players given some haven’t been registered to play in La Liga for the coming season because of various contract situations.
Meanwhile, they’re president is actively saying the club can afford a deal for £50m-rated Williams, something of a luxury signing.
The same source think it’s unlikely that Barcelona can actually bring Williams to the Nou Camp this summer as a result – which will perhaps encourage Arsenal.
But as explained, Arsenal will need to sell players before making a move for Williams.
Arsenal recently rejected a bid for Emile Smith Rowe from Fulham – demanding a higher fee.
But perhaps if Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah were sold for example, Arsenal could then make the most of Barcelona’s circumstances, landing a true world-beater.
