Barcelona hand Arsenal potential boost in transfer race to sign ‘world-class’ forward

Arsenal are set to be one of the more busier sides in the final week of the summer transfer window, with a number of deals set to be wrapped up.

Eddie Nketiah is closing in on a £30m move to Nottingham Forest with Arsenal also nearing the complete signing of Mikel Merino, a transfer saga that the Gunners have been enduring for what feels like the majority of the summer.

With Aaron Ramsdale also linked with a move to Wolves, there’s a real chance that as many as three senior players could leave Arsenal between now and next week’s deadline on Friday, with Reiss Nelson also rumoured with a switch to Leicester City.

And FC Barcelona might have just handed Arsenal a boost in their pursuit for one forward.

Barcelona hit roadblock in bid to sign Arsenal target Federico Chiesa

According to , Barcelona have hit an issue in their pursuit for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, with the Catalan giants in need of selling more players if they’re to land the Italian international.

Chiesa has been linked with Arsenal this summer with Juventus intent on selling the former ACF Fiorentina star this summer, who is not in Thiago Motta’s plans for the new Serie A season.

Hailed as a ‘world-class’ forward by , Chiesa’s exit from Juventus this summer has been one of the most talked about rumours, with Barcelona recently emerging as the most realistic option for the winger.

However, with the La Liga giants now facing a problem in their bid to sign Chiesa, Arsenal could use the opportunity to swoop in for the Azzurri star, who in north London under Mikel Arteta could start a new chapter in his career at long last.

Chiesa could be a left-field signing that works for Arsenal

Arsenal have made signing an attacker a priority this summer, one that Arteta is yet to come good on with a new defender and midfielder coming first for the Gunners in the window.

Yet with time running out and options drying up, Chiesa could be a left-field option that actually works out for Arsenal, with the Juventus forward capable of playing across the entire attacking three and adapting on the fly.

With the Serie A giants intent on selling Chiesa, it makes sense for Arsenal to make a late move for the Italian, who could be a useful squad player for the Gunners given how versatile the 26-year-old is.
