Barcelona fans urge one of their players to accept Newcastle offer, ahead of January

Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti is reportedly the subject interest from Newcastle, Fenerbahce and Valencia ahead of January. Fans of the Spanish club have urged him to choose the Toon.

Umtiti, 28, has flown down the pecking order at Barcelona. Gerard Pique remains first choice, while the likes of Ronald Araujo, Eric Garcia, Oscar Mingueza and Clement Lenglet are ahead of the 2018 World Cup winner.

Joining the club in 2016, Umtiti has only managed 133 appearances for Barcelona. As he approaches six years at the club, the 31-time France international is about to enter the last 18 months of his current contract.

Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign £17million Umtiti, in the coming weeks. Other reports state that Fenerbahce, Benfica, Milan, Valencia and other clubs are interested in signing the Barca ace.

What are Barcelona fans saying as Newcastle eye £17m Umtiti?

Newcastle desperately need additions in the January window. Before the 1-1 draw against Manchester United, it was argued that centre-back and right-back were priorities for Eddie Howe’s side.

Injuries to Callum Wilson, Ryan Fraser and Allan Saint-Maximin may change that – but the club still need central defenders. The only left-footed option is Ciaran Clark, and he was mediocre when bought in the Championship.

Bringing Umtiti to the club would be an enormous improvement on what Newcastle currently have – but the Sun say he earns £220,000 a week. Barca fans have urged Umtiti to join the Toon.
