Barcelona fans react, Tottenham reportedly join Newcastle in race for left-footer
Barcelona fans have taken to Twitter amid reports that Tottenham have joined Newcastle in the race to sign defender Clement Lenglet. Many are willing to see back of the France international in January.
Lenglet, 26, has been excellent for Barcelona since joining the club in the summer of 2018. The ex-Sevilla defender has clocked up 145 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga giants – but only 12 this season.
Since August, the France international has only started three times in the league. Under Xavi, Lenglet has only started two of five La Liga matches – getting an assist against Real Betis in a 3-2 win last time out.
Spanish journalist Gerard Romero reported on Monday night that Tottenham want to sign Lenglet. He also says that Spurs tried to sign Lenglet in the summer – but Nuno Espirito Santo was blocked in his approach.

Now, with Antonio Conte in charge, Spurs are making another move – and the presence of the Italian might convince him. They could face competition from Newcastle, with saying the Toon are keen.

Lenglet needs a move. He needs to reignite his career after a difficult first half to the 2021-22 campaign. Having played in France and Spain, the next obvious step is to surely consider a move to the Premier League.
Barcelona fans are seemingly open to his exit. They need to sell players to solve their financial issues and Lenglet, among other fringe players, could go. With Newcastle and Spurs keen, Barcelona fans responded.
