Barcelona discussing personal terms with £50m Arsenal target who Mikel Arteta really wants to sign
Spanish giants Barcelona are now said to be discussing personal terms with a forward who Mikel Arteta would love Arsenal to sign this summer.
Once Euro 2024 ends, Edu and his recruitment will likely accelerate Arsenal’s summer transfer plans, aiming to swiftly improve Arteta’s squad.
Arsenal kick off their pre-season against Bournemouth in the United States in eleven days time and Arteta will surely want at least one of his new signings to travel with the club.
Perhaps Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori will be that man, who seems incredibly close to sealing a move to Arsenal.
However, Arsenal and Bologna are struggling to agree a payment plan for Calafiori right now, which will hopefully be ironed out swiftly.
That being said, Arsenal also want to add a midfielder and a forward to their squad as well as defender this summer.
And in terms of offensive additions, Arteta has decided he wants Nico Williams at Arsenal, who will face England in Sunday’s Euros final.
Barcelona now discussing five-year contract with Arsenal target Nico Williams
Williams has been sensational in Germany, a big reason why Spain have made it to the final alongside the likes of Lamine Yamal.
Therefore, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Arsenal are facing stiff competition from Barcelona in order to sign Willliams, who has now entered contract discussions with the Spanish club.

At least, that’s what journalist is now reporting, who just shared his update on X.
The journalist said that Barcelona are taking ‘important steps’ in discussing a five-year contract with Williams, who is keen to switch clubs.
Galetti shared: “Barcelona are taking important steps in the talks on personal terms with Nico Williams: further developments are expected after Euro 2024.
“The Spanish player is eager to move: a 5-year contract with a high salary (€9/10m) is under discussion.”
Of course, William’s high wages could be a concern for Arsenal, who may decide to veto a pursuit for the 21-year-old on those merits.
However, as stated, Arteta has made it clear that Williams is the player who can transform Arsenal’s attack, if the club decide to pursue a new winger.
And although Arsenal are thought to have beaten Juventus to a top Italian talent, which is no easy feat, perhaps they will struggle to match Barcelona’s pull to Williams.
