Barcelona defender’s declaration is a massive transfer blow for Arsenal
Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has revealed he wishes to stay and fight for his place at the Nou Camp ().
The World Cup-winning Frenchman had been linked with a possible £65 million move to the Emirates after losing his starting berth to Clement Lenglet.

Umtiti had been struggling with injury earlier in the season. He is back fit now but has been unable to reclaim his place alongside Gerard Pique in defence.
Despite his lack of games lately and a whole host of speculation about his future, £65 million-rated Umtiti () is adamant that Barca should ignore any offers that come in for him this summer.
The former Lyon ace is believed to have told his representatives that any move away from the Spanish giants would be a step down.
TBR’s view
It looks very much as though Arsenal will not be signing Umtiti, not that too many fans will have got their hopes up.
But it’s still a blow for the Gunners who are desperately in need of someone of the calibre of Umtiti.

Arsenal’s defence continues to showcase just how fragile it is, with Wolverhampton Wanderers the latest Premier League team to rip them apart.
Unai Emery needs a big investment at the back this summer and Umtiti would have been absolutely ideal. Gunners director of football Raul Sanllehi, who played a role in getting Umtiti to Barca in 2016 during his time at the Nou Camp, will now need to look elsewhere.
