Barcelona are ‘increasingly confident’ that £47m Arsenal target is going to join them soon

Barcelona are growing in confidence that they will pinch a £47m Arsenal target this summer transfer window.

Arsenal are set to announce their first signing of the summer in Euro 2024 star Riccardo Calafiori, who is joining from Bologna.

Now, focus will start to shift towards a midfielder and an attacker to bolster Mikel Arteta’s forward line as he looks to go one better and win the Premier League title next year.

High up on his list of targets is a £47m-rated winger, though, it seems Barca are confident of pinching him from the grasp.

Barcelona confident they can sign Nico Williams

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano shared an update on the pursuit of Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams last night.

The Catalan giants appear to be in pole position to land the 2002-born attacker despite genuine interest from The Gunners.

Romano notes that more talks are expected later this week with Williams and Barcelona, with a deal potentially nearing completion.

The Euro 2024 winner has a £47m release clause in his contract and the La Liga outfit have now been given the green light to activate it by the regulatory body of Financial Fair Play.

Arsenal will have to look elsewhere

Arsenal will have to move on and focus on other targets as the Premier League season is fast approaching.

Perhaps Wolves’ jet-heeled winger Pedro Neto becomes a viable option again or Crystal Palace’s playmaker Eberechi Eze, who can operate off the left.

Juventus’ Federico Chiesa should be a genuine target, too, considering he could be available for just £16m this summer due to his contract situation.

In other news, Arsenal willing to sanction an expensive loan deal for their £20m player as Riccardo Calafiori deal nears.
