‘Bale’, ‘Robben’: Leeds loanee Leif Davis lauded on Instagram after Bournemouth win

A couple of Bournemouth players have jokingly compared Leif Davis with Gareth Bale and Arjen Robben on Instagram after the Leeds United loanee made his full Cherries debut on Wednesday.

Scott Parker sprung a major surprise ahead of their clash with Birmingham City. The Bournemouth boss named Davis on the right of the front three.

Of course, Leeds fans will know the 21-year-old as a left-back who can also move into the middle of the backline.

But few would have considered him as a potential right wing option. And that is saying something given some of the brave moves Marcelo Bielsa has made during his time at Elland Road.

It proved to be a very good evening for Davis’ side. Bournemouth won 2-0 to take their tally to seven points from their opening three games.

His own performance appeared to be mixed. Some fans lauded his effort. However, they appear to need convincing that his future could lie in that role.

But his teammates seem to believe that he has plenty of potential in that position.

Davis took to Instagram following the game. And there were replies from the likes of Luke Ayling and Dominic Solanke.

compared Davis with a Dutch legend. Meanwhile, Jordan Zemura suggested that he got Bale vibes from the youngster…

Will Parker persist with Leif Davis in attacking role?

It will be very interesting to see if Parker intends to use Davis in that role more often.

Bournemouth have the option to buy Davis at the end of his loan. So it would appear that his days at Leeds are probably numbered, either way.

Should he impress, the Cherries will likely keep him. And if he struggles, it is hard to imagine Leeds holding onto him unless they take a big step backwards anytime soon.

Nevertheless, Whites fans will be extremely excited to see what the future holds for Davis.

He has held in high regard by many. And they will be desperate to see him realise his potential – even if that is away from Elland Road.
