Balague says Coutinho waiting for Newcastle takeover, states Liverpool stance

that Philippe Coutinho is waiting for Newcastle United’s potential takeover to be announced in order to move to Tyneside – while also delivering Liverpool’s stance.

Coutinho, 28, is expected to leave Barcelona this summer after struggling to impress with the Spanish league leaders since his move from Liverpool in January 2018. He has been on loan at Bayern Munich this season.

An ankle injury has ruled the 61-time Brazil international out of playing for the new German champions since Bundesliga football returned. Indeed, he is expected to return to Barcelona this summer.

A move to the Premier League is most likely, with the majority of England’s biggest clubs linked. Balague has stated Newcastle are favourites, with Coutinho waiting for a takeover to go through. Liverpool are not interested, though.

“Coutinho is waiting for that [Newcastle takeover] to happen,”. “He is the kind of player that they can have. His representatives are trying to get Coutinho into the Premier League.

“There have been talks about Arsenal, but nothing has arrived from Arsenal. Liverpool on loan? No truth whatsoever, Liverpool are not interested. The favourites from the Premier League are Newcastle, if the takeover is done.”

TBR’s view – Coutinho could be Newcastle’s Robinho

When Manchester City’s takeover was announced, the club instantly raided Real Madrid and brought Robinho to the Premier League. The Brazilian was not the perfect signing, but he instantly delivered enthusiasm and optimism.

The difference between £200,000-a-week star () Coutinho signing for Newcastle and Robinho joining Manchester City, is that Coutinho is a proven Premier League player with more than 200 appearances for Liverpool.

Coutinho could be Newcastle’s example of Robinho, but prove to be much more successful.
