Bailey Peacock-Farrell makes Burnley debut 14 months after Leeds United exit
Last summer, with Leeds United looking to balance the books after failing to win promotion to the Premier League, several Whites players were told they were now considered expendable.
In shock moves, first-team regulars Kemar Roofe and Pontus Jansson were sold to Anderlecht and Brentford respectively.
Leeds also allowed second-choice goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell to leave the club.
the Northern Ireland international joined Burnley in a deal worth around £3 million.
It came after he had lost his place as Leeds number one to Kiko Casilla. Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa had always planned to replace Peacock-Farrell, with Chelsea loanee Jamal Blackman set to take the mantle before a leg break ended his Elland Road career.
So it was less surprising to see Peacock-Farrell leave.
However, it is doubtful that the former Leeds man will have thought he would be waiting this long to make his debut for his new club.
Peacock-Farrell had to battle with two England internationals in the form of Nick Pope and Joe Hart last season, meaning he went the entire campaign without making his Clarets bow.
Instead, that came last night, as he featured in Burnley’s 2-0 EFL Cup win over Millwall, nearly 14 months after he left Leeds.
Hopefully, the former Leeds man can now find himself playing with increasing regularity after this important landmark.
