Bad news for Man United fans about January transfers after Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s takeover yesterday
Manchester United announced yesterday that an agreement has been reached for Sir Jim Ratcliffe to takeover 25 per cent of the club.
This an exciting time if you’re a Manchester United fan. After years of heartbreak under the Glazers, there is something new to look forward to, but ESPN journalist Mark Ogden has some bad news regarding the January transfer window.

Glazers will oversee Manchester United’s January transfers despite Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s takeover
Christmas came early for Manchester United fans after Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Chairman of INEOS, confirmed the acquisition of 25 per cent of the club yesterday.
It has been a long wait for the supporters as talks have been going on for months. This should’ve been completed a while ago, but an agreement has finally been reached now.
Manchester United fans are really excited about the January transfer window next week now that they have someone new calling the shots upstairs.
However, there is some bad news as it will be the Glazers who will run things during the winter window because the Premier League will need six to eight weeks to complete the owners’ and directors’ test. Only once that’s done will the deal be ratified.
Mark Ogden said on : “Well, they (fans) should be excited in the sense that the Glazers are taking a backseat from the football side of it and their influence is diminishing. But, you know, let’s put the brakes in a little bit.
“This isn’t going to get ratified by the Premier League for six to eight weeks, so the January transfer window, that’s irrelevant. That’s not going to make any difference because Sir Jim will probably won’t have his arrival on the board signed off until February.
“So, January is going to be a normal Glazer transfer window which means not a lot will happen. They might get a couple of players out, might get a couple on loan at the end of it, but nothing substantial.”

Erik ten Hag needs to turn things around to keep his job
Manchester United are in a terrible position now, aren’t they?
The Red Devils have lost more times than they’ve won this season, are already out of the Champions League and are currently closer to 15th-placed Crystal Palace than they are to Premier League leaders Arsenal.
Erik ten Hag is under a lot of pressure following the terrible start to the season, and there have been reports that Sir Jim Ratcliffe favours appointing Graham Potter if he sacks the Dutchman.
If Ogden is to be believed, no decision will be made until at least February, which means Ten Hag has over a month to turn things around. If he doesn’t, we won’t be surprised at all to see him lose his job.
