‘Available’: Nuno says £37k-a-week Wolves ace will rejoin squad for tonight’s FA Cup clash

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo says Rayan Ait-Nouri is available to rejoin the Wolves squad for tonight’s FA Cup clash at Molineux.

The 19-year-old sustained a hip injury against Chelsea last month and he’s missed Wolves’ last three games as a result.

Ait-Nouri has now returned to training and, speaking ahead of the fifth-round meeting with Southampton, Nuno provided a fitness update on some of his players.

Asked about Ait-Nouri and Fernando Marcal, Nuno told the Wolves on Wednesday: “They are getting better. Rayan is available to join the squad tomorrow, Marcal not yet.”

The Molineux boss also provided updates on Willy Boly and Daniel Podence, saying: “They are improving, doing treatment, but they are not available for these two games against Southampton.”

Ait-Nouri could potentially fill in for Jonny Otto on Thursday, should Nuno opt to rest the Spaniard with a view to using him in Sunday’s Premier League trip to St Mary’s.

The Angers loanee has made 11 Premier League appearances including eight starts this season, but his time at Molineux thus far has been one of inconsistency, with some great displays mixed in with lacklustre performances.

It’s likely the full-back be given a chance against Saints in the cup but, with Jonny and Cabral also vying for minutes, he’s still got a bit to prove Nuno with regards to his future in old gold.
