‘Available at the right price’: Journalist claims Conte could sell ‘perfect’ Spurs player and ‘superstar’ talent

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte is open to selling Joe Rodon and Bryan Gil this summer, according to .

Rodon has struggled for game time at Spurs since joining in October 2020, with just 24 appearances to his name.

Meanwhile, Gil joined Tottenham from Sevilla last summer, but ended up moving to Valencia on loan in January.

Both Rodon and Gil face uncertain futures at Spurs amid interest from other clubs.

But at the same time, they’re both talented players with room to develop.

Rodon has 28 caps for Wales and helped his nation beat Ukraine in their playoff.

He’s likely to be in the Dragons’ World Cup squad.

“He’s perfect, works very hard, young guy, wants to learn, very enthusiastic,” Jose Mourinho of Rodon in March 2021.

Meanwhile, Gil did so well on loan at Valencia that fans chanted for the Spurs loanee to join them permanently.

Tottenham legend Graham Roberts labelled him a “little superstar” after one Tottenham display.

And Valencia coach Jose Bordalas deemed Gil “tremendous” and said he had adapted “phenomenally well”.

There’s certainly scope for Conte to give both players a chance in pre-season to see if they can impress.

“Six or seven” out the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium door?

In the latest Tottenham mailbag, Eccleshare responded to a fan’s question about what outgoings there could be.

He claimed that, while Conte isn’t actively look to sell Rodon or Gil, he’s open to offers for them.

“Conte’s hoping to bring in six or seven players, and we can expect a similar number to head out the other way,” wrote Eccleshare.

“Of these, there are those that he is actively hoping to shift (Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele).

“And those, like Steven Bergwijn and Davinson Sanchez, who he’d like to keep but would understand if they wanted to move on and Spurs received an appropriate offer.

“One of Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty (most likely the former, because he’s younger and will attract a much higher fee) will also go to accommodate a new right wing-back. Who we expect to be Djed Spence from Middlesbrough.

“Sergio Reguilon will also be allowed to leave now Ivan Perisic has been brought in to compete with Ryan Sessegnon for the left wing-back slot. As will Harry Winks following the arrival of Yves Bissouma.

“Joe Rodon and Bryan Gil are both available at the right price. While Japhet Tanganga will return for pre-season following knee surgery with a chance to show he can be a useful member of next season’s squad.”
