Report: Arsenal have now agreed to let ‘phenomenal’ first-team player leave on a free-transfer before 11pm
In a dramatic twist to the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang saga at Arsenal this month, the Gunners have now agreed to let the Gabon striker leave for Barcelona…for absolutely nothing.
According to 9:45), Aubameyang had initially been set to leave the Gunners on loan, with an 18-month deal touted by different outlets. However, the Telegraph say that is not the case, and instead, Aubameyang will simply leave the club on a free-transfer.

Despite the lack of transfer fee, it will free up around £300k-a-week in wages for Arsenal. Over the course of his contract, it will save the Gunners well in excess of £10m. Mikel Arteta and Edu, then, clearly see value in simply letting the former Dortmund man go.
Aubameyang has been out of the picture with Arsenal since a breach of discipline earlier this season. Since then, he’s not had a sniff of coming back and Mikel Arteta left him out of this week’s trip to Dubai. This, despite the Spanish manager previously Aubameyang a ‘phenomenal’ player for his team.
TBR’s View: What A Messy Ending
This is a nightmare for Arsenal overall. It happened with Mesut Ozil and they’ve somehow done it again with Aubameyang.
It’s crucial the club learns its lesson here. Arsenal fans will be annoyed, and with no sign of a striker incoming before 11pm, this is proving to be a nightmare window for the club.
