Atletico Madrid have just made offer for ‘incredible’ player who Arsenal thought they were going to sign

Arsenal are hoping to add more players to their squad in the coming weeks but now face competition for one key target, it seems.

The Gunners are looking to crack on with their business despite being over the USA and a deal for Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori is believed to be close.

However, while a deal for Calafiori is as good as done, Arsenal fans are also keen to 🐼see a new midfielder arrive at the club as well.

Throughout the summer, a host of names have been put forward as potential꧂ Arsenal targets but as yet, nothing has materialised.

One of those midfielders being touted is Spanish international, Mikel Merino.

Arsenal are huge admirers of Merino and there’s even been suggestions that the Arsenal staff are convinced Merino wants to sign.

However, in a twist in the deal, it looks 🌳like Atletico Madrid are throwing a spanner in the works.

According to Spanish journalist Belen Sanchez Garcia, Atletico Madrid have nꦚow made their move for the ‘‘ Merino by 💖placing a bid.

to confirm the news, Garcia has said♓ that Atletico have now made a bid for Merino and they’ve even spoken to the player himself.

However, therꦜe is nothing concrete between them until an agreement has been reached with the clubs and interestingly, it’s suggested Merino is thinking about the move.

Q🐷uite whether Atletico will get anywhere with this approach, remains to beꦰ seen.

Howe꧂ver, Arsenal fans will be worrying about the potential of a deal here as Merino is someone the supporters have bought into.

Merino was a part of the Spain squad that won the Euros in the summer and into the last year of his deal in Soc𓂃iedad, he’s available at a knockdown price.

Arsenal, then, may have to blink.
