‘At least’… Neil Lennon believes Celtic have a player they will sell for £30m next summer
Former Celtic manager, Neil Lennon, believes that his old club will look to sell Matt O’Riley next summer.
The Danish international has been the subject of much speculation since the summer. Despite signing a new long-term deal, O’Riley is still attracting the attention of some of Europe’s big guns and Lennon believes that whilst Celtic will hold onto the 23-year-old in January, come next summer he will be off.
Lennon said [], “I do think that Brendan will want to trim the squad in other areas, but I’m sure O’Riley will stay until the end of the season … at least that’s what I’m hoping for, anyway!
“But you can’t stop the progress, so I would imagine selling him will be something that Celtic will look at in the summer. He’s proven himself at the highest level, in the Champions League.
“He’s been the best player in Scotland this season, so you’re looking at £25-30million for him, at least.”
A football study valued O’Riley at over £10m during the summer. This was before he was capped for Denmark and before he extended his contract to 2028.

Since the summer the dynamic midfielder has bossed the Champions League with a Player of the Match performance against Atletico Madrid, was joint top goalscorer in the Scottish Premiership, earned his first cap and has been Celtic’s most consistent player.
Ever since his £1.5m move from MK Dons, O’Riley has just gone from strength to strength. A relative unknown when he arrived at Parkhead, O’Riley is now a household name and is being sought after by some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Will Celtic get £30m for him? They absolutely will as long as he continues to perform at a high level. The boy is a class act and when the time comes, his transfer fee will reflect that.
