At just £5m, Leeds would sign the missing piece in promotion jigsaw with striker
that We🧜st Bromwich Albion could lose talisman striker Jay Rodriguez this summer for a bargain £5million due to a release clause – and Leeds United have got to be interested.
The 29-year-old shone for the Baggies last season, scoring 22 league goals in 45 Championship matchܫes. He also proved somewhat creative, laying on six assists for his teammates.
His goals, along with Dwight Gayle’s prolific form in front of goal, pushed the Baggies into the Championship play-offs before they eventually suffered a 🐷two-legged defeat to Midlands rivals Aston Villa.
The release clause was inserted into his c🌳ontract last summer, which would see Rodriguez🌱 become available for the bargain fee if the Baggies failed to gain an instant return to the Premier League. In 12 months, it will be £10million.
It has got to tempt Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds. The Whites created the most chances in the second tier last se༒ason, but their inability to score when given the chance saw Leeds miss out on automatic promot🅺ion, and lose in the play-offs.
Kemar Roofe top sꦅcored with 15 goals, while Patrick Bamford struggled despite Leeds spending big for his services. Leeds need a striker that can remain fit and score more than 20 goals next time around.
Rodriguez is that man, for a bargain fee. Yes, he is earning a big contract worth £60,000 a week (), but if Leeds are to finally end their status as the longest-serving Cha🐻mpionship club, money needs to be spent.
For just £🅰5million, Rodriguez would be an excellent signing for Leeds and would certainly be the missing piece in the promotion jigsaw come the 2019-20 campaign.
