At £13.5m, Tottenham need to sell Aurier and beat Everton to impressive right-back

Serge Aurier has made an improvement when it comes to form this season, in comparison to the 2019-20 campaign. But the Ivorian has still made mistakes and in a Jose Mourinho defence, that is hardly acceptable.

It has seen Aurier dropped for the last two games, remaining an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw at Wolves and then left out of the matchday squad against Leeds. Indeed, he has not played in the league since the Leicester loss.

Clearly, Mourinho prefers the more solid Matt Doherty. Aurier himself has even spoken of his love for Paris Saint-Germain, where Mauricio Pochettino has since taken charge and of course – there is a chance he could rejoin PSG.

Now, Spurs should consider his exit. That is because Roma and Everton are interested in signing Zeki Celik from Lille and that they can get the 23-year-old Turkey international for a bargain £13.5million.

In the summer, that Spurs wanted to sell Aurier to raise funds for a move to sign Celik. That move never materialised but the right-back is now available for a bargain price, and Spurs have got to be keen.

The Lille ace is excellent. He is in the best form of his life, having a hand in four goals in just 15 games for Lille from right-back this season. At £13.5million, he is a bargain and is certainly worth a whole lot more than that figure.

With Aurier still seemingly yet to convince Mourinho, Spurs have got to cash in on the defender and perhaps even send him to Pochettino at PSG – and beat Everton in pursuit Celik in the coming weeks.
