Aston Villa transfer blow as report details £8m target’s stance on future
that Aston Villa are set to miss out on signing Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe this summer, as the player wants to stay at Old Trafford.
The 21-year-old has spent the last 18 months on loan at Aston Villa, starring for the Midlands club and playing a crucial part in the club’s promotion to the Premier League last season.
Tuanzebe played in almost every league game for Villa when fit last season, though he did miss 16 appearances after suffering a fracture in one of his metatarsals. He starred alongside the likes of James Chester and Tyrone Mings.
this week that Villa were looking to test Manchester United’s resolve over the England Under-21 international, by tabling an £8million offer for the centre-back – whose contract expires in 2020.

However, that Tuanzebe wants to remain at Old Trafford and break into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side during 2019-20. He is preparing to return to pre-season training at Carrington.
TBR’s view
Losing out on Tuanzebe is a huge blow for Villa. He was crucial to the way they played, and at £8million, he would have been an absolute bargain.
But Manchester United’s desire to keep Tuanzebe, and the defender’s belief that he can break into Solskjaer’s side, just shows how good Tuanzebe can be.
Villa have signed Kortney Hause permanently and plenty of rumours are suggesting they will move for Mings. But missing out on Tuanzebe is a blow for Dean Smith.
