Aston Villa & Tottenham officially miss out as 33-year-old target signs for Inter Milan

Earlier today, Inter Milan the signing of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, a player who Aston Villa and Tottenham were also tracking.
What’s the story?
Well, it was said that Steven Gerrard and Antonio Conte the 33-year-old back to the Premier League, after his contract with Roma came to an end.
However, the Armenia international has decided to stay in Italy instead of moving back to England, where he spent time with Manchester United and Arsenal.
Mkhitaryan has signed a two-year deal at the San Siro, and the news means both Spurs and the Villans will now have to look elsewhere in the transfer market.
The Yerevan-born forward’s move to Milan comes after he scored goals in appearances for Roma last season, while also providing assists.

In our view, it was strange to see Aston Villa and Tottenham express an interest in Mkhitaryan, as his last spell in England ended with Arsenal terminating his contract early, after some disappointing displays.
Nevertheless, he undoubtedly has quality, or else a European giant such as Inter Milan wouldn’t have offered him a two-year contract.
Aston Villa & Tottenham have other options
After missing out on Mkhitaryan, there are alternatives for Gerrard and Conte.
In the latter’s case, Spurs are believed to be interested in signing Jesse Lingard, a player who tends to operate in similar areas to the Armenia.

In regards to Aston Villa, it has been said that Gerrard is to sign Porto attacker Otavio.
Clearly, the Premier League duo are both on the lookout for another attacking midfielder, and Mkhitaryan was presumably being monitored as the cheap option given his status as a free agent.
Only time will tell if Aston Villa and Tottenham find alternatives, so keep an eye on the situation.
