that Dean Smith’s side are assessing their options heading into the summer transfer window, with Grealish likely to attract offers from some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League following another stellar season with the Villains, and Cantwell could be the player to replace the Villa captain.

With the report stating that Norwich value the England U-21 midfielder at £30m, Cantwell has had a solid season in the Championship for the Premier League-bound Canaries, with the winger scoring six goals and assisting another four for Daniel Farke’s side as they secured promotion back to the English top-flight at their first time of trying after being relegated last year.

TBR View: Cantwell could flourish for Villa in the long-term
The prospect of Grealish leaving Villa will again be one of the main talking points of the transfer window when the market opens its doors again for business, but if the England international was to leave Villa Park, Cantwell could be an excellent long-term replacement for Smith’s team.
Hailed as an ‘exceptional talent’ by Chris Sutton , Cantwell has proven in both the Championship and the Premier League to be a productive and hard-working player who is capable of playing in numerous attacking positions which work well to facilitate his creative traits.

And in a squad with the likes of Ollie Watkins, Bertrand Traore and Anwar El Ghazi, Cantwell will have a solid base of players to play his game around, and at just 22, the England youth international has plenty of time ahead of him to develop his game and to fill out the void Grealish will leave should he depart Villa this summer.
