Aston Villa think they can get ‘huge bargain’ signing after talks, he could reject Arsenal

Aston Villa are confident that they can persuade Rosenborg star Sverre Nypan to choose their project over Arsenal and Manchester City this summer, TBR Football can reveal.

Villa are currently locked in talks with Nypan and his camp to convince him to move to Villa Park ahead of joining Arsenal or the City Football group.

Arsenal tried to sign Nypan in January, but the 18-year-old decided against committing his immediate future to any new club and decided to start the new Norwegian season with Rosenborg.

City Football Group also held talks and discussed the prospect of joining both Man City and Girona with the talented young midfielder.

Chelsea had discussions with the player too in January and Manchester United were winning the race for Nypan not so long ago – but the Red Devils have backed away from a deal in recent months.

Graeme Bailey – TBR Football chief correspondent, understands that talks between Villa and Nypan have ‘gone well’ and there is a real belief they could land a player considered one of the best young talents in Europe.

Rosenborg are allowing Nypan to choose his next club and a deal with them is not seen as an issue – the overall deal will be less than £20m, TBR are informed.

At the age of 18, Nypan has already amassed 62 senior appearances for Rosenborg, scoring 14 goals and providing 11 assists from midfield.

Nypan has also won five caps for Norway U21s, a player who will soon be on the radar of the senior side where he could play alongside the likes of Martin Odegaard and Erling Haaland.

And aside from the Premier League, there is also interest in Germany and talks have been held with Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.

Why is Sverre Nypan ready to choose Aston Villa over Arsenal?

In terms of why Nypan might choose Villa this summer, it mostly comes down to the opportunities that Unai Emery can offer.

Villa’s project is littered with young players getting their chance – Duran got his opportunity before he was sold and Morgan Rogers and Jacob Ramsey are also thriving in the first team.

The message is clear under Emery – if you are good enough you will play.

Villa, Arsenal and every club see Nypan as a huge bargain when you look at the prices of English talents of a similar age.

Championship starlets Chris Rigg, Jobe Bellingham and Hayden Hackney would all demand deals nearer to £30m, explaining why Nypan is such an attractive prospect.
