Aston Villa should target Ben Woodburn loan after Yannick Bolasie’s departure

Yannick Bolasie’s decision to terminate his loan spell at Aston Villa this month has left Dean Smith short of options on the wing.

Although Bolasie did not reach the heights expected of him, he was a regular at Aston Villa under Smith.

But the 29-year-old has decided to end his loan stint to pursue his Premier League career after scoring two and assisting four for the Villans.

Smith will be weighing up his options and a late January loan swoop could be on the cards to fill Bolasie’s void.

Aston Villa’s current options are quite good but Smith could do with an extra face out wide.

Anwar El Ghazi has been inconsistent this season, while Albert Adomah and Jack Grealish have had injury concerns. Andre Green is the other option but he is still young and raw.

The 19-year-old is back at Anfield after an unsuccessful spell with Sheffield United, but he could thrive at Aston Villa.

Woodburn is highly rated by Liverpool and can replicate Harry Wilson’s success in the Championship with the right move.

The Wales international is wanted by Hull City () but Aston Villa should enter this race to boost their play-off credentials.

With pace, skill and an eye for goal, Woodburn could be that fresh injection of creativity to inspire Aston Villa to a promotion push.
