Aston Villa should ask for Christian Benteke back in any Crystal Palace transfer talks
Crystal Palace are the latest team said to be interested in signing Jack Grealish from Aston Villa. Palace are ready to move for Grealish with the money they could earn from an £80 million sale of Wilfried Zaha.
Grealish is, of course, unlikely to leave Aston Villa if they can earn promotion to the Premier League. However, should that not happen, Grealish might be tempted by the move.
As for Aston Villa, they would certainly have to consider a sale at the right price. However, they could also use the interest to bring a former hero back to the club.
Christian Benteke joined Aston Villa in 2012 from KRC Genk and went on to score 49 goals in 101 games for the club. That led to a big money move to Liverpool, to be in the region of £32 million.
He has struggled for form and fitness in recent years, but in a scenario where Aston Villa are still in the Championship, he would undoubtedly be a massive asset in the second tier.
With star striker Tammy Abraham’s future up in the air, considering he is only on loan from Chelsea, a replacement could be needed.
With just over a year left on his deal at Selhurst Park, Aston Villa should ask Palace to include the big Belgian in any deal involving Grealish’s exit from Villa Park this summer.
