Aston Villa prepare offer for Mehdi Zerkane after contact with agent of Bordeaux winger
According to , Aston Villa are ready to sign Mehdi Zerkane this summer after making contact with the Girondins de Bordeaux forward’s agent.
Dean Smith’s Villans are understood to have had the Algerian dynamo under consideration for around the past three months and stepped up their pursuit by sending scouts to watch the 21-year-old in action against RC Lens last Sunday.
Zerkane was the primary focus of several players being watched by the Birmingham-based outfit at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux, and offered Villa’s talent spotters something to enthuse over by scoring his .

The French-born winger only entered the action five minutes from time, but rounded out the scoring to seal a 3-0 win for Jean-Louis Gasset’s side by slotting a left-footed effort into the back of Jean-Louis Leca’s net.
It is thought his goal was the final piece of evidence Aston Villa needed to sanction a swoop this summer, as the Premier League side have already been in contact with Zerkane’s agent and will lodge a bid with Bordeaux at the end of the season.
Aston Villa are not opposed to making a move to sign the youngster despite Zerkane being under contract through to 2024, on an extension following his earlier in the year.
TBR’s view:
With Aston Villa’s scouts understood to have been in attendance against Lens last Sunday, Zerkane certainly opened his account at the perfect time to set up a potential move to the Premier League if Bordeaux are receptive to the Villan’s seemingly imminent approach.
The 2020/21 term has not been an ideal breakthrough into the senior game for the Algeria winger, who made his international debut last November, as Zerkane has only started appearances in all competitions and missed six games .
Zerkane also only laid on his in March during a 3-1 win over Dijon FCO, who will end the Ligue 1 season bottom of the table having taken just of which Les Hiboux have won just three and conceded 73 goals.
Clearly, though, Aston Villa like the potential they have seen in Zerkane and feel the former AS Monaco trainee can be a success in the Premier League, it now just remains to be seen how much they offer Bordeaux and if their approach will be accepted.
