Aston Villa predicted XI v Newcastle: Cash starts, Trezeguet benched
Aston Villa take on Newcastle United tonight looking to get back to winning ways after last week’s draw with Wolves.
The Villans are in a nice position in the Premier League table and are well clear of relegation this season.
The West Midlands-based outfit survived relegation on the final day of last season but have done far better this season.
Ahead of tonight’s game we looked at the team which Dean Smith might pick to face the Magpies.
In goal and back four
Emi Martinez has been superb since checking in from Arsenal and will keep his place between the posts.
There could be a return for Matty Cash with the player set to travel north with the squad.
He has returned from a hamstring problem and should start.

Ezri Konsa and Tyrone Mings will get the chance to continue their fine form together at centre-back.
Matt Targett should start at left-back.
Midfield
With Smith likely to go with a 4-2-3-1 system, it will be a double pivot in midfield.
Douglas Luiz and John McGinn should get the nod to face Newcastle.
The Scotland international was signed by Steve Bruce when he was in charge at Villa Park.
In attack
Jack Grealish still isn’t fit so Anwar El Ghazi should get another chance to shine in the team.
He has deputised pretty well so far and his performances have caught the eye.
Ross Barkley should get the nod to start in the No.10 role and he will hope to revive his form of late.

Bertrand Traore should get the nod on the opposite flank with the former Lyon man also in good nick.
It will probably mean a drop to the bench for 26-year-old Trezeguet who played last weekend.
Upfront there won’t be a change, with Ollie Watkins set to play once again.
He has found the net 12 times this season and has proved to be a good addition.
Here is how Villa’s team could look tonight:
