Aston Villa now eyeing manager who Steven Gerrard has described as ‘phenomenal’
Aston Villa are currently searching for a new manager after parting company with Steven Gerrard.
The Villans sacked Gerrard immediately after the claret-and-blue club’s 3-0 loss at Fulham on Thursday.
Several coaches are apparently on Villa’s radar for the Villa Park hotseat, with some names more prominent than others.

Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim is apparently Villa’s top choice for the role.
Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Leicester City’s Brendan Rodgers are two other names doing the rounds.
Now, CBS Sport journalist Ben Jacobs has thrown an exciting new name in the hat – Marcelo Bielsa.
The legendary Argentine has been out of work for eight months now after Leeds United parted company with him.
And Jacobs, speaking on , has urged Villa fans to keep an eye out on speculation linking them with Bielsa.
“Sean Dyche will be linked to Aston Villa as well, and then an outsider to keep an eye on is Marcelo Bielsa, the former Leeds manager,” he said.
“It’s an open race at the moment, but a lot of the legwork in terms of shortlists and candidates was done weeks ago.”

‘World-class manager’
As far as football coaches go, Bielsa is arguably one of the best in the world.
Pep Guardiola, Diego Simeone, Mauricio Pochettino, Diego Maradona and Johan Cruyff have sung the Argentine’s praises.
Gerrard also contributed to the list in February this year, as per the .
“(Leeds) have got a world-class manager who’s done a phenomenal job from where he took over to where he’s got them to now,” he said.
Bielsa teams play exciting football, and the manager’s methods end up changing players and clubs for the better.
If Villa can strike a deal with him, then fans will surely be buzzing.
