Aston Villa newbie Anwar El Ghazi once broke Barcelona home record

Aston Villa have snapped up exciting Dutch winger Anwar El Ghazi on loan until the end of the season. The Lille winger arrives to add some attacking impetus out wide for Aston Villa and judging by his history, Aston Villa fans should be excited.

El Ghazi came through the famed Ajax academy and in 2015 played twice for the Dutch national team. So there is no doubt this is a player with plenty of pedigree.

But perhaps the highlight of his career will be a feat very few players get to achieve. Aston Villa’s new signing has scored against Barcelona in the Nou Camp.

The 23-year-old was just a teenager when he scored in the 88th minute against Barcelona in a Champions League clash. Ajax lost the game 3-1, but it was still a massive moment for the young winger.

It was, in fact, the first time Barcelona had conceded a goal at home that season and El Ghazi went on to have a fantastic 2014-15 with his club.

Since his move to Lille, things have been slightly tougher for the talented attacker. Aston Villa, however, will hope they can get the best out of a player once tipped for stardom in Amsterdam.
