Aston Villa loanee Harry McKirdy can put himself in the shop window during League 2 play-offs after confirming summer exit

Aston Villa forward Harry McKirdy has recently announced () that he will be leaving the club in the summer.

After nine years in the club’s academy, McKirdy will leave once his current contract expires. But he still has time to impress any potential suitors.

The 22-year-old is currently on loan at Newport County who scraped into the play-offs on the final day of the season in League Two.

And while his primary focus will be on helping Newport win promotion to the third-tier, McKirdy needs to think about his future too.

During his time in Wales, the Londoner has racked up 12 appearances and scored one goal. Most of those games have been substitute cameos but he could still play a major role.

McKirdy will be aiming to put himself in the shop window with his performances. Clubs will be alerted to his contract situation and will be keeping their tabs on how he performs.

Newport might also be tempted to offer him a permanent deal. If he can prove that he is a useful squad member, McKirdy could be a good investment as he is young and promising.
