Aston Villa loan move ideal for Liverpool’s exciting forward Ben Woodburn

Having seen his progress stall at Liverpool, young forward and Welsh international Ben Woodburn is closing in on a loan move away. According to reports, Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa are ready to make an offer to bring him to the Championship.

claim that the versatile attacker could be one of the first to move to Villa Park after a transfer embargo was lifted at the club as financial issues are slowly but surely resolved in the Midlands.

His future is likely to be decided this week as Woodburn has not traveled with Liverpool to a training camp in France, and now Villa looks like the most likely destination, ahead of Sheffield United and Wigan Athletic.

“Ben Woodburn is 100% back for example. How it is with young boys, from time to time the improvement doesn’t go day by day, but he has played such a good pre-season.”

Woodburn memorably made his breakthrough scoring in front of the Kop to become Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer in a Carabao Cup win over Leeds United but struggled for game time last season with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino having nailed down the three starting spots in attack.

Now, Woodburn is desperate for regular first team action and Liverpool agree that it could benefit him, with Villa ready to bring him in, potentially as a replacement for Jack Grealish’s guile in attack.

Whilst no deal for Grealish to depart has yet been confirmed, Woodburn’s pace and creativity in the final third shows similarities to the Tottenham target. There may be less experience with Woodburn and he may take some time to initially adapt to the second tier, but he has the potential to shine just like Grealish has after taking the step down, though in his case it came with relegation.

The 18-year-old may not necessarily be the kind of high profile signing that fans are hoping for, but he shows huge promise in a move which suits all parties.
