Aston Villa internally discussing move for striker who Pep Guardiola hailed ‘one of the best’

Aston Villa have been one of the busiest teams in the Premier League this summer when it comes to the transfer market.

Unai Emery’s side have shelled out well over £150m on the likes of Amadou Onana, Ian Maatsen and Samuel Iling-Junior, with Villa offloading Douglas Luiz, Moussa Diaby and Tim Iroegbunam as a result.

With a few days left remaining in the window, the Villians are seemingly not finished, either, with Villa linked with Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney as well as Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling.

And it appears that Villa are interested in another Premier League-proven player this week.

Aston Villa discussing move for Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin

According to , Villa have internally discussed a potential move for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who could leave Goodison Park between now and the end of the transfer window with the forward no longer in Sean Dyche’s plans.

Once hailed by Pep Guardiola via as ‘one of the best’ headers in the Premier League, Calvert-Lewin would be an interesting addition for Villa if the UEFA Champions League side can work quickly enough to reach an agreement with Everton.

Indeed, although Calvert-Lewin has had his issues during his time with the Toffees ranging from injuries to a lack of consistent goalscoring form, the England international could thrive in a backup role with a club like Villa.

And with Everton open to selling the striker before the window closes, Villa could be in the right position to strike for the 27-year-old attacker, who could be keen on a change of scenery after so many years at Goodison Park.

Calvert-Lewin could thrive with move away from Everton

Calvert-Lewin has shown over the years that he has the quality to be a regular goalscorer in the Premier League, yet the forward has lost his shine of late due to a number of reasons.

Which is why Calvert-Lewin should be jumping at the chance to join a club like Villa, who playing as deputy to Ollie Watkins could find a real role for himself under Emery in what will be an exciting year for the Villians.

Premier League fans are aware of how good Calvert-Lewin can be on his day, and at Villa, the striker could revive his career at an ambitious club that will want to do everything it can to get the best out of him again.
