Aston Villa fans will not enjoy Yannick Bolasie’s newfound heroics
Aston Villa fans were right to be excited when they signed Yannick Bolasie in the summer. He arrived on loan from Everton and given his excellent ability and exciting style, fans were hoping he could prove a big hit.
Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce was surely hoping the same thing. So much so that the club even sanctioned the deal, £70,000-a-week wages.
But what Aston Villa got, was not the Bolasie of old.

He struggled to have any impact at Villa Park. His record of two goals and five assists does not read badly. However, in his final two months at the club, he failed to deliver. Aston Villa fans became frustrated at his lack of defensive work and his wages did not help matters.
With that in mind, his loan spell was terminated in January, so new manager Dean Smith could bring in new players.
Bolasie returned to Everton before joining Anderlecht on deadline day. At the weekend, he was the hero for the Belgian giants.
Struggling at 0-0 with Royal Antwerp, Bolasie rose high at the back post to head home a dramatic last-minute winner.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa looked devoid of creativity or goals as fans began calling for Smith’s head after a limp defeat to West Brom. It was certainly not a good weekend at Villa Park.
