Aston Villa have today confirmed that assistant head coach John Terry has decided to leave his role at the club.
The former central defender joined the Villans in 2017, initially penning a one-year deal as a player. He made 32 appearances during the 2017/18 campaign.
Terry then decided to hang up his boots a year later, opting to take on a role with Dean Smith’s backroom team.
Last season he was an integral staff member as the club finished 11th in the Premier League, bouncing back after narrowly avoiding relegation the season previous.

It remains to be seen whether or not Villa will seek a replacement. Richard O’Kelly is Smith’s trusted lieutenant and he remains at the club.
Terry seeks pastures new and Villa fans react
A short statement on Villa’s website suggests that the former Chelsea man will take a small break. He will then try and get himself hooked up in a managerial role in the not so distant future.
It seems as though Terry will be missed by the Villa Park faithful. Plenty have taken to Twitter to wish him well in the future.
The 40-year-old was a stalwart of the English game. He made 717 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 67 goals. Terry also served his country with distinction, making 78 caps for the Three Lions.
Villa fans have nothing but praise for their former coach. Following this morning’s departure, plenty of supporters have taken to Twitter.
