Aston Villa fans react to Mick McCarthy’s plan to play Conor Hourihane in defence

Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane will pla꧒y at left back for the Republic of Ireland tonight when they host Bulgaria in a friendly.

Mick McCarthy has confirmed he will experiment with the fo❀rmer Barnsley man in defence and outlined his reasons.

He : “I’ll see whether Conor can do it. He has a wand of a left foot. He will have no problem playing from there, let’s see if he has a flying winger, if he can cope with that. He is thrilled, he is looking forward to iဣt. He wants minutes and he wants to play.

“If it turns out to be a successful venture,ཧ then great, and if it doesn’t, then nothing ventured nothing gained, except Conor is going to get more minutes when he hasn’t been playing at club level. I remember doing it with Stephen Ward at club level and that wasn’t ༒a bad experiment. I hope it is as successful as that one.”

McCarthy needs to find a replacement left back because Sheffield Uni🍒ted’s 💞Enda Stevens will miss the next European Championship qualifier through suspension.

But Villa fans are not i💛mpressed with the plan, saying on Twitter it reminds them of Steve Bruce’s tactical ineptitude at Villa Park.

It remains to be seen how it works out but the Villa fanbase do notไ appear to be on board at🌜 this moment in time…
