Aston Villa fans react to club’s reported interest in Gonzalo Higuain

Aston Villa fans have been reacting to claims the club could move for Gonzalo Higuain.

Villa are one of a few teams interested in the Argentine striker, who is moving on from Juventus after four years at the club.

He is not a part of new manager Andrea Pirlo’s plans, and he will be seeking pastures new.

The 32-year-old has enjoyed a terrific, goal-filled career to date.

He has played for the likes of Napoli, Real Madrid AC Milan, Chelsea and Juve, and won several league titles along the way.

It appears a new chapter is on the horizon for Higuain now after 149 games and 66 goals for Juve, and interest from England is apparently strong, with Villa, Newcastle United, Fulham and West Ham United all credited with interest by Calciomercato.

Villa are in desperate need of a goalscorer this summer, with Wesley Moraes still out injured, and January signings Mbwana Samatta and Borja Baston failing to cut the mustard so far.

Tanzania international Samatta scored two goals in 16 appearances, while Baston has only appeared twice without scoring.

Villa fans were fairly split over the idea of Higuain joining their side.

Some are very wary of his ability and fitness at the age of 32, while some are open to seeing a proven goalscorer joining the club if there would be no transfer fee:
