Aston Villa fans react on Twitter to Dean Smith’s Matty Cash update

A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to react to comments made by Dean Smith concerning Matty Cash’s hamstring injury.

Cash has been a revelation since moving to Villa Park in the summer. It is surely fair to say that the former Nottingham Forest man has already justified his £16 million fee ().

The 23-year-old has started 21 games in the Premier League for the Villans. And he has established himself as one of the most promising full-backs in the top flight.

Unfortunately, Cash had to be taken off during the goalless draw with Brighton at the weekend. And it appears that Villa will be without the youngster for a little while.

Smith confirmed – – that Cash is set to be out for the next few weeks.

“Matt has a hamstring strain. I am not sure the grade but it will mean a few weeks out, which is a blow for us,” he said.

to insist that he will be back stronger. But the news has, understandably, not gone down well amongst Villa supporters on social media.

Cash has been integral to their success as a defensive unit this season. And there are concerns that they are a lot more vulnerable with Ahmed Elmohamady likely to be the man to come in.

There are also questions about the decision to loan Frederic Guilbert out in January. Of course, Smith could not have anticipated that Cash would be sidelined a few weeks later. But some fans perhaps feel that there would always be a lack of depth if Guilbert did leave.

Here is how some of the supporters have reacted to Smith’s update…
