Aston Villa fans react on Twitter to Anwar El Ghazi’s cameo

Some Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to suggest that Anwar El Ghazi should be in contention for more game-time following his substitute appearance on Saturday.

It proved to be another frustrating home game for Dean Smith’s men. They were beaten 2-1 at Brighton and missed the chance to return to the top four.

Smith may feel that little went right. Villa lost Ross Barkley to injury after five minutes. And they were denied a late penalty after being initially awarded a spot-kick when El Ghazi went down inside the box.

The Dutchman was unable to be the hero. But some supporters felt that he was one of the players who deserved credit after coming on for the final 15 minutes.

It was suggested that he looked bright as the Villans pushed for an equaliser. And some have now claimed that he needs to be in contention to start next Monday if Smith has to make a change.

It remains to be seen how long Barkley is sidelined for. Bertrand Traore was the man to initially replace the Englishman. But some felt that El Ghazi ?who earns around £31,000-a-week, ?staked a claim for a greater opportunity.

The 25-year-old has not had the easiest time since Villa’s promotion. But a handful of supporters have praised the impact he made on a disappointing day for Smith’s men.
