Aston Villa fans react on Twitter to Anwar El Ghazi’s cameo
Some Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to suggest that Anwar El Ghazi should be in contention for more game-time following his substitute appearance on Saturday.
It proved to be another frustrating home game for Dean Smith’s men. They were beaten 2-1 at Brighton and missed the chance to return to the top four.

Smith may feel that little went right. Villa lost Ross Barkley to injury after five minutes. And they were denied a late penalty after being initially awarded a spot-kick when El Ghazi went down inside the box.
The Dutchman was unable to be the hero. But some supporters felt that he was one of the players who deserved credit after coming on for the final 15 minutes.

It was suggested that he looked bright as the Villans pushed for an equaliser. And some have now claimed that he needs to be in contention to start next Monday if Smith has to make a change.
It remains to be seen how long Barkley is sidelined for. Bertrand Traore was the man to initially replace the Englishman. But some felt that El Ghazi ?who earns around £31,000-a-week, ?staked a claim for a greater opportunity.
The 25-year-old has not had the easiest time since Villa’s promotion. But a handful of supporters have praised the impact he made on a disappointing day for Smith’s men.

Honestly saying this would start El Ghazi on Monday night against West Ham, that’s if Barkley isn’t fit

Next few weeks are important as I think Smith will need to utilise the squad more ?Hourihane and El Ghazi definitely added something today ?McGinn/Luiz weren’t great today and Grealish tired towards the end which isn’t surprising coming off national games during the week
?Dean Caffrey (@ElDeano_96)
El Ghazi looked good when he came on today
Martinez was good again
Cash was decent
Some positives from today

Agree, thought he was good when he came on.

World to go on duty with Argentina. On the plus side Traore got game time, and I though El Ghazi looked decent when he came on. We also now have 9 days until our next game. Still very excited about this season. Keep the faith 3/3

Traore should be behind El Ghazi now, regardless of whether he’s injured as well as being the most one-footed Villa player since Steve Staunton

I never thought I’d say this because of my hatred for him last season but el ghazi actually did well when he came on
