Aston Villa fans react as Wesley Moraes receives surprise Brazil call-up
Aston Villa spent big to bring in Brazilian striker Wesley Moraes over the summer. The Club Brugge frontman cost the £22 million after impressive form in Belgium.
It looked a decent signing for a player with bags of potential and Aston Villa fans have quickly got behind the big man. That is despite a mixed bag so far in terms of his performances for Aston Villa.
Wesley has scored four goals in 11 games for the club so far but has struggled to find consistent form. That said, he has clearly done enough to impress the bosses of his national team Brazil.

The 22-year-old has been called up to the Brazil national team for upcoming friendlies with Argentina and South Korea in the Middle East, taking the place of injured Ajax star David Neres.
The striker will join Aston Villa team-mate Douglas Luiz in the squad and it has certainly caught a lot of Villa fans by surprise.
Regardless, most Aston Villa fans are over-the-moon that their hard-working striker has been given this chance by his nation. Hopefully, it can inspire him to an eye-catching display against rivals Wolves this afternoon.
Not quite sure how this has happened based on his performances for us so far, but hopefully it’ll boost his confidence if anything. *Backs Wesley to bag a brace tomorrow*

It’s obvious to anyone who knows football that Wesley has massive potential. Not surprised by the call up, needs some refinement but can see why Smith invested so heavily in him.
